F1 2002 is a racing game released for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance in 2002. Developed and published by Ubisoft, F1 2002 is the sequel to F1 2001 and is based on the Formula One season of that same year. The game features all 11 teams from the 2002 Formula One season, including Ferrari, Williams, McLaren, and Jordan. Each team has two drivers as well as their cars from that season. Players can choose to race in either a quick race or a full championship mode.
In quick race mode, players have the option of choosing either a single race or setting up an entire Grand Prix weekend which includes practice sessions and qualifying rounds. In championship mode, players choose their driver and team then compete in all 17 races of the 2002 Formula One season trying to win enough points to become champion. As they progress through each round they will be able to upgrade their car with improved performance parts such as tires, brakes, suspension and engine upgrades. There are also several difficulty levels available ranging from easy to hard.
The gameplay of F1 2002 is quite simple but still challenging for experienced gamers. The game features realistic physics and handling so that players feel like they are driving a real Formula One car around a track. The graphics are decent but not spectacular for a Game Boy Advance title; however they do provide enough detail so that players can easily make out what’s happening on-screen during races. The soundtrack consists mostly of midi tracks which are appropriate for the genre but nothing special overall.
Overall F1 2002 is an enjoyable racing title for the Game Boy Advance with realistic physics and challenging gameplay. It may lack some of the features found in more recent titles such as online play or detailed graphics but it still provides an enjoyable experience due its tight controls and intense racing action across 17 exciting tracks from around the world. Whether you’re looking for an arcade-style racer or something more simulation based then F1 2002 should fit your needs perfectly regardless of your platform choice
